“The first wealth, is health.” (S2)

How rich is your first wealth?

Health consists of gastronomic delights (or food), exercise, general body health and mind.  Although many of us know what we should be doing, we sometimes get side-tracked or caught up in life and let things slip by the wayside.  Sometimes we become complacent about what we have been told rather than going and finding out more information or which are better questions to ask along the way.  Being all round fit and healthy with one’s SELF relies on only three things: food, exercise and your state of mind.  Do you, like many, over eat, under exercise and are either under stimulated with what you are passionate about, or get bogged down with the day to day things.  Remember to be grateful for what you have, become aware of these things and you’ll find things start to change almost immediately.

Wholefoods is an area which has been around for centuries and basically revolves around different foods and the body parts they help keep healthy and rid of disease.  For instance, when you cut up a carrot it looks like an eye and carrots are scientifically proven to be good for your eyes; tomatoes when cut up are like the chambers of the heart and that’s right, they are great for your heart; celery is great for your bones, walnuts are great for your brain and list goes on.  There are free information sessions held regularly around the country by various experts.  We’ll list the dates on the site under Events when they’re on, and if you Subscribe to the right you’ll receive an update in your email.  Bettering our Health can be as simple as drinking 2L of water a day, eating seasonal and local foods, eating organic or free range foods and starting meatless monday, all of which also ensure better sustainability as discovered in the EARTH pages of Habitat, Waste and Consumerism.

Exercise is what our body’s were built to do.  Instead, many of us sit inside at a desk all day, eat food and only burn it out with the mind energy.  Find something you enjoy doing, join a gym, go for a walk at lunch – take a buddy if you need the extra motivation to go, go bushwalking on the weekends, take up a team sport, go for a swim, try rock climbing indoors, go to bowls or hire a canoe and take it up a waterway.  It should be enjoyable or at least something you feel great for doing afterwards (diving into cold water is nobody’s idea of fun).  There are many things to do to keep you active which will create a flow on effect for a positive state of mind and better all round health.

Our state of mind is greatly affected by food and exercise, but also attitude.  Instead of getting more frustrated about an issue, we can choose to see that it has happened for a reason, as an experience we can learn from, talk it over and move on in a positive light.   Rather than holding onto the negative issue you can’t do anything more about, you’ll feel much better and move on to far more enjoyable things.  ‘Positive or negative energy is exchanged like a fair trade, the more you give, the more you receive‘ (S7).  Check out the Growth page to see what can be done to specifically alter your mindset and grow yourself.  SMILE. This simple and free connection will start changing everything from ordinary to extraordinary.   Then say ‘Good morning or good afternoon‘ to someone.  This will make their day and yours.  Do it everyday to a complete stranger, and you’ll feel great!
