Social
“One third of fathers in Sydney and Melbourne spend more time commuting than they do with their kids.” (S6)
How much time did you spend with your kids yesterday?
Social is the activity of getting together with friends and family, new and old, to interact, catch-up and spend time together. It could be planned, spontaneous or a regular date. Social connections help you keep a sense of belonging and purpose. While getting together and going out is fun, it can get expensive. Consider a dinner party, bbq, picnic in the park, attending a local street party or Event, taking up a sport or Hobby together, volunteering (see SUPPORT) or going to the local playground.
With the development of the technological age we’re all trying to save time and can forget the importance of face to face connections. Email, mobile phones and social networking online are all great ways to keep up to date with what’s going on but at the end of the day you still need to get out and involved in socialising.

Back2Basics…if you want to be more Social, get out or meet new people join a club. There are plenty to choose from book clubs, tennis clubs, sailing clubs, bowls clubs or car clubs. If you’re content with your current contacts but don’t see enough of them, don’t wait for somebody else to do something organise a dinner party or bbq and get everyone together to catch-up.
